More love to Thee, O Christ, More love to Thee!
Hear Thou the prayer I make On bended knee;
This is my earnest plea:
Refrain
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee, More love to Thee!
Once earthly joy I craved, Sought peace and rest;
Now Thee alone I seek, Give what is best;
This all my prayer shall be:
Let sorrow do it’s work, Send grief and pain;
Sweet are Thy messengers, Sweet their refrain;
When they can sing with me:
Then shall my latest breath Whisper Thy praise;
This be the parting cry My heart shall raise;
This still its prayer shall be:
1.Morn-ing hymns, O Lord, with prais-es
For the past night’s gen-tle rest
Safe in Thee, the heart up-rais-es
To Thy name, for-ev-er blest!
2.Health of bo-dy, peace of spir-it!
Breath of life and hearts at ease!
Ill-ness heal’d by Je-sus’ mer-it!
Praise we God for all of these.
3.As Thy love has shin’d a-round us
Through the watch-es of the night.
So, through earth’s dark night sur-round us
With Thine own im-mor-tal light.
4.Hear, O spir-it, our pe-ti-tion:
From this day our lives con-trol.
Bring Thy work to full fru-i-tion,
Make us per-fect, make us whole! A-men.
1. Must Jesus bear the cross alone
And all the world go free?
No, there’s a cross for ev’ry one,
And there’s a cross for me.
2. The consecrated cross I’ll bear
Till death shall set me free,
And then go home my crown to wear,
For there’s a crown for me.
3. Upon the crystal pavement, down
At Jesus’ pierced feet,
Joyful, I’ll cast my golden crown
And His dear name repeat.
4. O precious cross! O glorious crown!
O resurrection day!
Ye angels, from the stars come down
And bear my soul away.
