English Hymn M-N

The name of Jesus is so sweet

1. The name of Jesus is so sweet,
I love its music to repeat;
It makes my joys full and complete,
The precious name of Jesus!

Refrain:
“Jesus,” O how sweet the name!
“Jesus,” ev’ry day the same;
“Jesus,” let all saints proclaim
Its worthy praise forever.

2. I love the name of Him whose heart
Knows all my griefs, and bears a part;
Who bids all anxious fears depart –
I love the name of Jesus.

3. That name I fondly love to hear,
It never fails my heart to cheer;
Its music dries the falling tear;
Exalt the name of Jesus.

4. No word of man can ever tell
How sweet the name I love so well;
Oh, let its praises ever swell,
Oh, praise the name of Jesus.

Near to the Heart of God

1. There is a place of quiet rest,
near to the heart of God,
a place where sin cannot molest,
near to the heart of God.

Refrain:
O Jesus, blest Redeemer,
sent from the heart of God,
hold us, who wait before thee,
near to the heart of God.

2. There is a place of comfort sweet,
near to the heart of God,
a place where we our Savior meet,
near to the heart of God.

3. There is a place of full release,
near to the heart of God,
a place where all is joy and peace,
near to the heart of God.

Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee! E’en though it be a cross
that raiseth me, Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee.

Refrain
Nearer, my God, to Thee, nearer to Thee!

Though like the wanderer, the sun gone down, Darkness be over me,
my rest a stone; Yet in my dreams I’d be nearer, my God, to Thee.

Then, with my waking thoughts bright with Thy praise, Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I’ll raise; So by my woes to be nearer, my God, to Thee.

Or, if on joyful wing cleaving the sky, Sun, moon, and stars forgot,
upward I’ll fly, Still all my song shall be, nearer, my God, to Thee
