English Hymn G-H

God the Omnipotent

God, the omnipotent!
King who ordainest
Great winds Thy clarions,
Lightnings Thy sword;
Show forth Thy pity
On high where Thou reignest,
Give to us peace
In our time, O Lord.

God the all merciful!
Earth hath forsaken
Thy ways of blessedness,
Slighted Thy Word;
Bid not Thy wrath in
Its terrors awaken;
Give to us peace
In our time, O Lord.

God the all righteous One!
Man hath defied Thee;
Yet to eternity
Standeth Thy Word,
Falsehood and wrong shall
Not tarry beside Thee;
Give to us peace
In our time, O Lord.

God the all wise!
By the fire of Thy chastening,
Earth shall to freedom
And truth be restored;
Through the thick darkness
Thy kingdom is hastening;
Thou wilt give peace
In Thy time, O Lord.

So shall Thy children,
With thankful devotion,
Praise Him who saved them
From peril and sword,
Singing in chorus
From ocean to ocean,
Peace to the nations,
And praise to the Lord.

Go, Tell It on the Mountain

Refrain:
Go tell it on the mountain,
over the hills, and ev’rywhere;
go, tell it on the mountain
that Jesus Christ is born.

1. While shepherds kept their watching
o’er silent flocks by night,
behold, throughout the heavens
there shone a holy light.

2. The shepherds feared and trembled
when lo, above the earth
rang out the angel chorus
that hailed our Savior’s birth.

3. Down in a lowly manger
the humble Christ was born,
and God sent us salvation
that blessed Christmas morn.

1. Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father.
There is no shadow of turning with thee.
Thou changest not, thy compassions, they fail not.
As thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

Refrain:
Great is thy faithfulness!
Great is thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided.
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

2. Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon, and stars in their courses above,
join with all nature in manifold witness
to thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

3. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow;
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
